My Digital Life

Found a brand new blog (podcast coming soon,) by Scott Bourne and Andy Ihnatko called My Digital Life. This will surely be the place for answers to all our storage, and backup questions. I'm expecting a heavy photog slant to the site, but other topics will be covered also. The coolest thing is that by linking to mydl.me, I could win a DROBO. There's more info about the contest and these wonderful storage devices at the above link.

Constipated

So, it's been over a month since my first (only) post. And I had high hopes of blogging daily, to help it flow. Seems I have a major case of constipation. So I did some searching to find some fiber for my diet, help me be more regular. Here's what I've found:

This is more than a simple statement, this is a wonderful podcast/blog by an accomplished sci-fi writer, The Mighty, Mur Lafferty. She provides very helpful tips, and support for the struggling writer, from a fellow struggling writer. This is a must listen for anyone serious about writing for publication. You can subscribe to her podcast through iTunes here.

This is actually a photography site, (bet you could guess from the URL,) but they really help get my creative juices flowing. Their podcast is full of joviality and interesting insight into the world of photography, both professionally and as a (very expensive, apparently,) hobby. What I really enjoy about their podcast is the regular photography contests with open ended subjects. I envision myself using them as writing subjects as soon as I'm writing again.

This is Merlin Mann’s website about finding the time and attention to do your best creative work. The name is derived from the 'tickler files' I first came across in David Allen's book Getting Things Done. Merlin is a kung fu master when it comes to life organization and optimization. If I ever get around to implementing some of the great techniques I've learned from him, I should have tons of time to sit on the porcelain throne. He also has a podcast here.

So this should get me going, or at least, hopefully, start me in the right direction. Who knows, I may be so far gone I need some professional help. I plan to keep in mind a wonderful tip from Mur, and not be afraid to suck. That and a regular writing schedule should get me off on the right foot. My goal to start is three posts a week, I'll see if I can stick to it. It may be me commenting on the news, my life, or random happenings. It may be real, it may only exist in my mind. I can't tell the difference myself sometimes, I don't expect anyone else to either. So be weary, reader. Take what you read here with a grain of salt, everything tastes better that way.

It'z Alive!

Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later, so here it is. Been getting bit by the writing bug quite a bit lately, but I feel I need to stretch my muscles a bit (a lot) before I can jump back into the pool. It's been many years since I've written anything substantial. I'm going to use this space as a sort of porcelain throne into which I can puke my mental contents. My memory isn't what it used to be, (it was never much anyways) so a word of warning; What you read here, though most certainly rooted in truth, may not be completely accurate. I'll leave it up to you to decide what is real and what is hyperbole. If I seem to go off on a tangent, don't worry, I'll find my way back. (eventually) In the mean time, relax, enjoy, and don't take me too seriously. This should be fun.
